History on YouTube (6/14/11)

Aim: The historians of 2015 will find an example of a YouTube that does a good job of explaining and topic and articulate (describe) what makes that video effective.

Task 1 Quick Question: What makes a good YouTube video? Of all the videos teachers show you in classes, which are the best? Why?

Task 2: Each row will be assigned a topic related to American history. Your job is to search through YouTube and find videos that do a good job of explaining your topic and you think that a teacher should use it in class. If you click on the topic it will take you to a sample search that I've done on YouTube for you.

Urbanization and City Growth with Mr. Sanders (6/9/11)


Aim: The historians of 2015 will watch and critique YouTube videos describing the Gilded Age within the Progressive Era of American history.

Task 1: Quick Question: During the early 1900's industry grew quickly. This meant that cities grew quickly as well. What are some problems that may be associated with rapidly growing cities and populations?

Task 2: Track the video with that will help us understand the gilded age within the progressive era.

Task 2: Each row will be assigned a different video that they will have to watch and critique.

SWBAT explain how westward expansion and the development of the railroad and other key inventions led to economic growth and industrialization. (Timeline)
SWBAT earn at least 80% on Growth and Industrialization Quiz.

Task 1: Quietly review notes and Summary 13.2 for quiz on Friday's lesson.

Task 2: Take quiz.

Task 3: Answer the following question on google moderator. "We've studied the Industrial Revolution and how steam power and the implementation of the factory system helped industry to grow in the North. What effect do you think the development of the railroad will have on Industry and America's economy?" (Take your time to read the question carefully. Think about the meaning of each word before you formulate your answer.)

Task 4: Take notes on Industry and Urban Growth.
