History on YouTube (6/14/11)

Aim: The historians of 2015 will find an example of a YouTube that does a good job of explaining and topic and articulate (describe) what makes that video effective.

Task 1 Quick Question: What makes a good YouTube video? Of all the videos teachers show you in classes, which are the best? Why?

Task 2: Each row will be assigned a topic related to American history. Your job is to search through YouTube and find videos that do a good job of explaining your topic and you think that a teacher should use it in class. If you click on the topic it will take you to a sample search that I've done on YouTube for you.

• Rows 1 and 2: The American Revolution and Founding Fathers
• Rows 3 and 4: Slavery and the American Civil War
• Rows 5 and 6: America's involvement in World War II

Task 3: After you finish looking at videos for your topic, choose one video that you think does a good job of explaining your topic and complete this form.
